Oils

In the last couple of years Rebecca has started experimenting with oils following a desire to work larger scale and more expressively.  She works mainly on linen covered board rather than stretched canvas as she likes the familiarity of the rigidity of working on panel after years of painting in tempera on board.

At present she is concentrating on portraits and landscapes  but is beginning to expand into more imaginatively imagery inspired by her interests in sacred art, shamanism and the spiritual realm. Diverse influences include the work of Soutine, Manet and the French symbolist painter Odilon Redon as well as landscape artists such as Joan Eardley and Samuel Palmer.

Her preferred oils are Sennelier and the French artisan brand Leroux who are based in Burgundy and only sell direct to artists. www.couleursleroux.com
